Keisha Christian is an engaging and compassionate singer from Barbados who has been singing from as far back as she can remember. Her intrigue for music was so pronounced that for her first birthday, her uncle Wendell bought her a Michael Jackson’s Thriller album. The young toddler was said to erupt in a gleaming excitement whenever she heard Michael’s music played.
At a tender age, she remembers constantly singing every song on that album as she walked around with the in-sleeve to memorize the lyrics. It’s no surprise that Keisha regards that album as one of her most treasured musical items. She credits Michael Jackson as one of her formative musical influences.
Growing up in a house where music was a part of the fabric of her household, she recalls musicians of the day frequently stopping by her home to practice with her father Keithroy Christian (The Mighty Destroyer) who was the Calypso King of the first-ever Crop Over Competition held in Barbados. At the age of six, her father, Keithroy Christian welcomed his young daughter to the stage at one of his performances, and from that point on, Keisha never looked back; music was part of her whole life. Keisha continued honing her craft with her father’s guidance.
At the age of nine in 1992, she entered and won her first National Singing Competition, becoming the youngest at that time and also the first female contestant to ever win the competition. In 1993, she again stole the hearts of judges and patrons and was announced as the winner for a consecutive victory in just her second year of competition. It was at this time, she started to become a household name in her native island.

In 2006, she won a Barbados Music Award, (an event that honours those in the music industry and recognizes the hard work and talent required to be a performer). She has also performed as a solo artist. In addition, she has performed alongside some of the who’s who of Barbadian artists (The Mighty Gabby, Gyrnner, Red Plastic Bag, and Arturo Tappin, just to name a few.
Keisha continues to sharpen her vocal abilities by performing at some of Barbados’ prestigious events, venues and hotels for locals and visitors alike. She has also traveled throughout the globe, representing her native country of Barbados for engagements in New York where she wowed audiences with her performance. She traveled to the United Kingdom for a command performance and in 2018, she traveled to Beijing China where she performed three shows for the captive Chinese audience who were moved by her elegance on stage, her delivery and her uplifting performance.
Keisha has long admired artists like Aretha Franklin, Marvin Gaye, Michael Jackson, Prince, Frank Sinatra, Lauryn Hill, Michael Buble, Jill Scott, and Sade, just to name a few. These artists have inspired her in her quest for excellence. They have become a beacon of light for artists like her especially coming from the perspective of living in the Caribbean. In 2020 Keisha embarked on a new journey with producer Eddie Bullen to forge a new working relationship with his company Thunder Dome Sounds in Toronto in an effort to transcend borders.
She embraces this quote: “ You may encounter many defeats but must not be defeated.” MAYA ANGELOU
